Arriving at Teklanika Campground early in the morning, Denali Park Road, Alaska

Private traffic within Denali National Park is strictly limited. The furthest you can drive with your own vehicle is up to the Teklanika Campground, about 29 miles into the park. Reservations for this campground are booked many months in advance, so we were extremely lucky to get a spot at Teklanika for 3 nights when we inquired at the Park Headquarter ... but only starting the next day. So we spent one night a Savage River Campground and headed out to Teklanika at the break of dawn, in time to catch the first shuttle bus that would bring us all the way to Eielson Visitor Center and Wonder Lake at the end of the road.
